How To Revolutionize Desserts With Homemade Rhubarb Sauce
BY CATHERINE NYORANI
For a burst of unique flavor and tangy sweetness in your desserts, homemade rhubarb sauce can't be beat. This secret weapon makes desserts pop, with minimal effort.
To make the sauce, wash and trim fresh rhubarb stalks, removing any leaves and tough ends. Then chop the stalks into small pieces and add them to a pan with a sweetener.
Add some water to the pan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, turn it down to a simmer and cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the rhubarb has broken down.
For a zestier flavor, try incorporating additional ingredients like vanilla extract, lemon zest, or a hint of cinnamon, which will imbue your sauce with complexity.
Once seasoned, remove from the heat and cool. The sauce is great on top of ice cream, incorporated into baked goods like pound cake, or spooned over yogurt parfaits and trifles.
