How Much Time It Takes For Potatoes To Soften In The Slow Cooker
BY STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
A slow cooker takes longer to cook potatoes than an oven does, but it won’t blast your kitchen with heat and you can cook the spuds without keeping an eye on them.
Generally speaking, potatoes will be ready to eat after 4 to 6 hours in a slow cooker. If you use the low setting, they typically take between 6 to 8 hours.
To cook potatoes in a slow cooker, wash and dry them, prick them all over with a fork, coat them in olive oil, salt, and pepper, and then let them sit in the slow cooker.
Make sure the potatoes sit in an even layer and are not piled up. To check if they’re done, stick a fork in one of the spuds, and if it slides through easily, it's done.
