How Much Food Does Ina Garten Serve Each Dinner Guest?

When hosting a crowd, Ina Garten cooks about a half pound per head of the main course and a quarter pound per head of each side dish to ensure there's enough food and no wastage.
Hence, if you have 10 people at your dinner party, prepare about five pounds of meat or fish and two and a half pounds of veggies, potatoes, or any other side you plan to serve.
Garten devised the formula back in the days of her specialty food and catering store, Barefoot Contessa, which she bought in 1978. She catered to groups of 20-200 people back then.
