How Long Can Parchment Paper Safely Stay In The Oven?
BY CATHERINE NYORANI
It's recommended that parchment paper shouldn't exceed a temperature of 420 to 450 degrees F, and should not stay in the oven for more than about half an hour.
Made from silicone-coated paper, parchment paper's risk of degradation increases when the temperature exceeds the recommended maximum or it is left in the oven too long.
If the recipe you're following calls for temperatures that exceed parchment paper's limits, search for a variety with the highest temperature rating you can find.
Consider placing a folded strip of aluminum foil beneath the parchment paper before you start baking, which will offer a sturdy base if the paper becomes too brittle or damaged.
