Homemade Salsa Is Quick And Easy With Canned Tomatoes

Homemade salsa is a delicious and versatile condiment. While fresh ingredients are often recommended, canned tomatoes offer convenience and add a flavorful, umami-rich base.
Already stewed and available in whole, diced, or crushed forms, canned tomatoes save time. Their year-long availability and long shelf life are also advantages.
To make your salsa, pour a can of tomatoes with their juices into a bowl or food processor, mix in diced onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and an acid such as lime juice or vinegar.
For extra flavor, opt for a can of fire-roasted tomatoes or use tomatoes with added green chilies and Mexican seasonings. Adjust spice levels with a teaspoon of sugar if needed.
