Here's The Proper Way To Clean A Batch Of Asparagus
BY MOLLY HARRIS
To ensure that your asparagus spears are squeaky clean without going overboard, give them a good rinse under cold water to remove any dirt and unwanted hitchhikers.
Using cold water will also ensure that you don't accidentally kick-start the cooking process. Before you begin washing, snap off the bottom woody parts.
Don't be afraid to use your fingertips to gently rub the spears to dislodge any debris. If they're especially dirty or gritty, give a gentle scrub with a vegetable brush or cloth.
Once the asparagus has been prepped and rinsed, use a clean towel to pat the spears dry. Store it in the refrigerator wrapped in a damp paper towel or cloth.
