Here's How Ree Drummond Elevated Canned Biscuits
BY Elizabeth Okosun
Canned biscuits are a shortcut to a fluffy, soft breakfast, but you can easily give them a fluffier upgrade by transforming them into scones with a Ree Drummond-approved method.
Both biscuits and scones are made with flour, sugar, butter, milk or buttermilk, and a leavening agent, but scones, particularly the American kind, tend to be sweeter.
That's why Drummond suggests adding sweet ingredients to the dough of each biscuit — anything from dried blueberries and raspberries to brown sugar and chocolate chips will work.
Lift a few layers of the biscuit and place the ingredients, then use a knife to shape them into a triangle to mimic the shape of scones. Next, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Brush the biscuits with buttermilk to help them brown. After about 10 minutes in the oven, or when they're golden brown, take them out and drizzle glaze on top while they're hot.
