Here's Everything You Need To Know About Storing Figs
BY ASHLEN WILDER
Figs will only stay fresh for about three days on the countertop. Luckily, there are a few ways to extend their life — one simple method is to store them in your refrigerator.
Before storing, check and remove any moldy or broken figs. Place paper towels in the basket or container to absorb any excess moisture, and seal them in an airtight container.
You can also store figs in the freezer for up to six months. Gently rinse them off, pat them dry, then lay them out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Set them in the freezer for about 4-6 hours until completely frozen, transfer the figs to an airtight plastic bag, and store them in the freezer.
Another option is to cut the figs into quarters, mix them with 1 cup of sugar for every 5 cups of fruit, and store them in airtight containers in the freezer.
