Grilling's Made Easy With A Clever Use For Those Mini Cast Iron Skillets
BY JAVARIA AKBAR
If you've ever wondered what to do with those tiny cast iron skillets, you can put them to good use as a basting station when grilling.
Add butter and seasonings to the pan and place it in a warm but not hot area of your grill for easy access whenever you notice the meat needs a little extra moisture.
The small pan's manageable size and weight mean it won't take up too much space on your grill, and its cast-iron properties ensure it can withstand the heat.
Flavor the butter with fresh herbs and garlic or a drizzle of honey and chili flakes. The easy-accessible basting station will add flavor and moisture to the meat.
Note that butter has a low smoke point, so if it starts to smoke, move it to a cooler spot on the grill or use a clarified butter like ghee which has a higher smoke point.
