Good Luck Finding Costco’s Bargain Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon

Even those who aren't bourbon fans know of Pappy Van Winkle, a rare and expensive bourbon. Turns out, you might be able to get through your local Costco — if you're lucky.
In July 2023, a 10-year-old Rip Van Winkle bottle was found at the Costco in Bellingham, Washington for $64.99. It was one of three bottles found in the whole state.
In September 2020, a fan found a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 23-year-old at the Everett Massachusetts Costco. Bottles have also been spotted in Alabama and Delaware.
According to those who have been lucky enough to find it, the bottles are sometimes behind Costco's glass case for premium alcohol and have also been found sitting out on a table.
Some "drops" are in the morning, but they have also occurred randomly in the afternoon, meaning there really is no way to predict when a bottle of Pappy will be offered for sale.
