Giada De Laurentiis Prefers One Pasta Shape For Italian-Style Mac & Cheese
By KAREN HART
When celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis whips up Italian-style mac and cheese, she prefers to use a small and unique pasta shape, as revealed on her YouTube channel.
Gnocchetti is a small pasta shape that is similar to gnocchi, but with ridges. De Laurentiis says this pasta is "perfect for capturing tons of sauce," giving you maximum flavor.
De Laurentiis may also love gnocchetti because of how the shell's sides fold over, which can hold a great deal of cheese sauce, just like more common macaroni "shells."
Other pasta shapes that hold sauce well are fusilli and radiatore, but avoid varieties like spaghetti or angel hair, which are long, smooth, and tend to make sauce slide off.
