Frozen Peas Are The Unexpected Ingredient For Fast And Delicious Dip
BY STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
If you're tired of bean dip or hummus, you should know that frozen peas are an ideal base for delicious fiber-rich dips that are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants.
A basic frozen pea-based dip requires few ingredients and no cooking. You just need the thawed peas, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Make sure your peas are cooled off if you defrosted them using the microwave, then add them to a food processor. You can add some water for a thinner texture in the final dip.
Process the peas with the other ingredients until smooth, or stop blending earlier for a chunky texture. You can then add toppings or blend other flavorings directly into the dip.
Try adding citrus, herbs, and spinach, or add beans for a hybrid dip. Dairy or tahini are also good thickeners, and a Parmesan, mint, and olive oil topping complements the peas.
