Frost Cakes Like A Pro Using A Simple Microwave Hack
BY JAVARIA AKBAR
If you struggle with coating your cake with a flawlessly smooth layer of buttercream, try using the glass plate inside your microwave and the wheeled ring it sits on.
When combined, these two bits of equipment create a makeshift turntable that you can twist to help you evenly coat a cake in a delectable layer of lusciously creamy frosting like a pro.
Use a palette knife or cake scraper to smooth the cake's sides while turning the plate with your free hand, or you can rotate the plate as you pipe in a single streamlined motion.
Furthermore, a turntable makes it easier to create a swirled top on a cake, no matter the type of frosting. Just press a palette knife in the cake's center to make an indentation.
