Fried Chicken Can Taste Bitter Because Of One Cooking Oil
BY Luna Regina
Nothing can beat the taste of homemade fried chicken prepared to suit your flavor preference. However, you should avoid olive oil to prevent your fried chicken from tasting bitter.
Olive oil has a smoke point of around 375 degrees Fahrenheit, the same temperature needed for deep frying chicken. At this temperature, the oil starts to break down and smoke.
Consequently, it develops bitter, acrid flavors that'll leak into your chicken and ruin the batch. Instead, use a cooking oil with a smoke point of over 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
