Fresh Herbs Are The Secret To Instantly Elevating Your Quiche
BY VANESSA NIX ANTHONY
Quiches are simple, elegant, and versatile. Meat or cheese are common additions, but if you want a simpler version of this baked egg dish, all you need are fresh herbs.
Part of the appeal of quiche is its stunning presentation. In addition to flavor, fresh herbs lend visual contrast with a pop of green, plus a delectable aromatic brightness.
A palmful of chopped basil, parsley, dill, chives, or tarragon are all vibrant additions that enhance the flavor of the eggs. Fresh herbs lend more flavor and aroma than dried.
You can mix the herbs directly into the egg custard filling and then pour it into the crust, or sprinkle freshly chopped herbs on top post-baking to create a striking garnish.
Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try pairing herbs with more additions, such as mushrooms, feta, and asparagus with thyme, or heirloom tomatoes, goat cheese, and tarragon.
