Forget Hot Dogs. Your Buttery Blankets Merit Tastier 'Pigs'
BY GRETA PANO
Pigs in a blanket are traditionally made with hot dogs or cocktail sausages wrapped in Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough, but the flavor of this snack is much better with Spam.
With a similar soft texture as hot dogs, but often less bland in flavor, Spam has a delicious salty taste that's fantastic when paired with a buttery Crescent Roll.
To make it, cut slices of Spam into strips, roll them in triangles of dough, place each "pig" on a cookie sheet, and bake until the dough is golden brown.
There are tons of other ways to switch up this classic appetizer, such as using tortillas instead of dough, adding toppings, or bulking up the filling with cheese or veggies.
