For Crispy Air Fried Chickpeas, Toss Them In Cornstarch First
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
Crispy chickpeas are delicious as a snack or a healthy alternative to croutons. To make sure your chickpeas get as crunchy as possible, toss them in cornstarch and oil first.
Crispy chickpeas add a burst of flavor and texture to a variety of dishes. The cornstarch traps the moisture between the mixture and the chickpeas, creating a crunchy exterior.
To make crispy chickpeas, drain the aquafaba (the liquid in canned chickpeas) and dry them. Toss them in the cornstarch with oil, salt, and seasonings like pepper or oregano.
For a 15-ounce can of chickpeas, about 2 tablespoons of cornstarch should suffice. Then, spread them in an even layer in the air fryer and cook them for about 15 minutes at 350 F.
