For A Sweeter Salad Dressing, Incorporate One Unexpected Ingredient
BY CATHERINE NYORANI
Instead of adding traditional sweeteners to your salad dressing like honey, agave, or maple syrup, consider using sweet applesauce instead.
Applesauce’s subtle sweetness works well with other ingredients. You can simply add a tablespoon or two to your favorite vinaigrette mixture.
You can also mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and applesauce for a simple dressing. For perfect balance, use a 1:1 ratio of the oil and vinegar before adding applesauce.
Adjust this versatile recipe to your liking by increasing or reducing any of the ingredients. Add more vinegar for a tangier feel or more applesauce for a sweeter kick.
Once the mixture is to your liking, add some water and stir to mix, or shake the dressing in a mason jar until well incorporated before using on your favorite salad.
