Everything You Need For An Easy Rice Seasoning Is Already In Your Pantry
BY JULIA HOLLAND
Rice, a global staple, is typically a neutral base for flavorful dishes, but you can elevate its taste by infusing a mixture of salt, sugar, and rice vinegar.
Inspired by sushi rice, this seasoning enhances all rice varieties, It offers a well-balanced, sweet, tangy profile that doesn't compromise texture or require complex techniques.
Add rice vinegar, sugar, and salt directly to the cooked rice. Use ¼ cup rice vinegar per cup of cooked rice, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
Once the ingredients are stirred in, place a lid over the rice and wait a few minutes. The steam dissolves the sugar and salt, and the rice absorbs the vinegar.
You can draw inspiration from sushi rice for appealing pairings and meal ideas, with the most obvious match being raw fish dishes like sashimi, poke, or ceviche.
