Every Soup At Trader Joe's, Ranked Worst To Best
BY JULIA DUDA
11. Hearty Minestrone
Although hearty and packed with plant-based goodness, Trader Joe’s minestrone is bland compared to their other soups, earning it the last spot on this list.
Aside from the blandness, the soup is a bit too broth-forward and lacks a proper ratio of orzo to veggies, with plenty of veggies but not enough orzo.
10. Creamy Mushroom
Despite being vegan and gluten-free, this soup falls toward the bottom due to a lack of creaminess and an awkward, chunky texture.
However, the soup is flavorful and complex, with a rich umami flavor that isn't too earthy or mushroom-forward thanks to the carrots and kale that balance it out.
9. Pumpkin Butternut Squash
This Trader Joe's soup delivers classic fall flavors but leans into the sweetness a little too much. Rather than a sweet aftertaste, it has a sweet overall taste.
Sweetness aside, this soup isn’t very interesting, with no textural intrigue and minimal additional flavors like brown butter and sage which are easily overwhelmed.
8. White Bean Chicken Chili
With strong notes of poblano pepper, cumin, chili powder, and cilantro, this chili delivers Southwestern flavor in a hearty meal packed with protein.
Cilantro-haters will already be put off by the chili, but others likely won’t enjoy its mushy texture and otherwise bland ingredients that rely on the broth for flavor.
7. Kettle Cooked Chicken Soup
Chicken soup is perhaps the most iconic of all soups, and while Trader Joe's offering isn't the best on the market, it's not disappointing.
Aside from a lack of noodles, there’s nothing wrong with this soup. It delivers a rich, buttery, savory chicken broth with classic additions like carrots and celery.
