Easily Level Up Canned Beans With A Marinade
BY KYLE GRACE MILLS
Canned beans are a cheap and convenient way to add protein to a meal, but they’re typically lacking in flavor. Luckily, you can fix this by simply soaking the beans in a marinade.
A good marinade for beans will be something similar to a tangy vinaigrette, where oil and vinegar create the perfect base. You can also add in some herbs and aromatics.
You can even add other veggies like celery, bell pepper, and avocado to the marinade for textural interest. Thoroughly drain and rinse your canned beans before soaking them.
You’ll want to use about 1/3 cup of olive oil for every 2 (15-ounce) cans of beans, and the type of vinegar and other flavorings in the marinade are up to you.
