Dunkin' Has Specialty Donuts Only Available During Royal Weddings
BY Andi Prewitt
At the time of writing, Dunkin' has released the so-called "Royal Love Donut" twice, paying tribute to the weddings of the British royal family's most prominent members.
The heart-shaped donuts first appeared in 2011 to celebrate Prince William and Catherine Middleton's wedding, then again for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2018 wedding.
The donuts were full of symbolism. For example, the jelly center symbolized lives filled with happiness, and the white frosting on the 2011 version typified the wedding gown color.
Dunkin' sold the donuts a week leading up to both weddings, and some shops opened early on the day of the ceremonies for fans who needed themed sweets while watching the vows live.
Given that both princes have married, the next generation is too young, and the British-born Dunkin' CEO behind the donuts has retired, don't expect a re-release anytime soon.
