Dry Strawberries In The Oven For Summer Sweetness The Entire Year
BY STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
Strawberries don't have to be in season to be enjoyed. By drying your fresh strawberries in the oven, they can last for up to six months in an airtight container.
Start by washing the berries, removing the stems, and cutting them into ⅛ inch-thick slices with a knife or mandolin. Space them out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Put the sheet into an oven set to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Let them bake for two hours, flip them, and then put them back in the oven for another hour.
Check them intermittently once they’re flipped and pull them out when they’re dry. They are done when the fruits are crunchy and don’t stick to your finger.
You can snack on your dried strawberries as-is or use them as a topping for oatmeal, cereal, yogurt bowls, smoothie bowls, frozen yogurt, or ice cream.
