Don't Think About Placing A Pan On Your Oven Floor Until You Do This
BY MOLLY HARRIS
Before sliding a sheet pan onto the floor of your oven, there's one crucial step you shouldn't overlook: Checking for heating elements. Some ovens have them built into the floor.
Placing a pan directly on the oven floor ensures maximum exposure to radiant heat. Heating elements on the oven floor that you don't know about can result in disaster.
Not only can it damage your pans, but it can also lead to uneven cooking, scorched food, and potentially hazardous situations if the heat comes in direct contact with cookware.
One alternative method is to place an oven rack as low as possible and set the pan on top of it. Fortunately, you can easily find most oven manuals online.
