Does Costco Or Trader Joe's Have The Better Frozen Lasagna?
BY JULIA DUDA
Ingredients
Costco and Trader Joe's frozen lasagnas have similar ingredients, containing Italian sausage, beef, and four cheeses: ricotta, mozzarella, Romano, and Parmesan.
Their noodles and tomato sauce also have a similar breakdown. However, Costco's lasagna has more calories, fat, carbs, sodium, and protein.
Price
Costco's Kirkland frozen lasagna comes in a two-pack for $16.79, about $8.40 per lasagna and $1.40 per serving. TJ's is a single lasagna at $6.99 and $1.75 per serving.
Although Costco offers a lower price per serving, not everyone wants to buy in bulk, as some may not want to store an extra lasagna in the freezer.
TJ's Taste
TJ's lasagna is very cheesy, both inside and out, but it may overpower the sparse meat. The savory, salty, tomato-y, and meaty flavors shine, considering it was frozen.
The oregano flavor was present throughout. The biggest downfall is that it could've been more balanced between the ingredients, as the cheese was oozing out of the noodle layers.
