Do Cherry And Grape Tomatoes Really Have A Difference?
By JENNIFER SWEENIE
Grape and cherry tomatoes are both smaller than other tomato varieties and offer a sweet burst when eaten. The two are often interchangeable, but there are some
subtle differences.
Cherry tomatoes are round, sweet, juicy, and tend to explode when their thin skin is pierced. They are available in shades of green, orange, yellow, and deeper reds and browns.
Grape tomatoes take on a longer, oval shape and are more savory than sweet. They are heartier and meatier than cherry tomatoes and don’t burst in the same way.
Overall, grape tomatoes can be used just the same as cherry tomatoes. Both varieties are perfect for any dish calling for a small, juicy bite of umami tomato flavor.
