Disney's Famous Dole Whip Uses Only 3 Ingredients
By HOPE NGO
The snacks at Disneyland and Disney World make the parks that much more special, including churros, Mickey beignets, caramel apples, and, of course, Dole Whip. Disney and Dole have had a business relationship since 1976, while Dole Whip debuted in 1984, and surprisingly, this iconic pineapple soft serve is easy to make at home.
True Dole Whip is a specially-formulated dairy-free dessert, and its exact composition is a secret, but the official cookbook "Delicious Disney" offers a copycat recipe. The book, dedicated to at-home versions of Disney snacks, only calls for pineapple juice, pineapple chunks, and dairy-free vanilla ice cream for its Dole Whip clone.
Marcy Smothers, author of the cookbook, admits that homemade Dole Whip may not taste exactly like the real thing, but it is incredibly easy to make using a blender. While "real" Dole Whip quite possibly uses the same three ingredients that Smothers calls for, perhaps the magic of Disney is what really makes it taste special.
