Different Ways You Should Start Seasoning Salmon
BY Amanda Berrill
Old Bay Seasoning
Having celery seed, salt, paprika, and red and black pepper as its main ingredients, Old Bay works well in a spiced salmon dish when rubbed on the fish with oil.
Old Bay salmon would be great topped with breadcrumbs cooked in garlic and butter. You can also add a bit of smoked salt for some smokiness and lemon juice for some bright acidity.
A Teriyaki-Like Sauce
Try seasoning your salmon with a blend of honey, ginger, garlic, and soy sauce. The mix is reminiscent of teriyaki sauce but less sweet and more pungent.
You can marinate the fish for an hour ahead of time in this mixture or pour some on right before baking it in the oven. You can also drizzle the sauce on your salmon when serving.
Chipotle Peppers
A tin of chipotles bathing in a mix of tomato, sugar, vinegar, onion, and garlic packs a real flavor punch in just a small amount and can majorly upgrade your fish.
Put the sauce surrounding the chiles on the fish, or finely chop the peppers and rub the paste on the filets. You can marinate the fish in the mix or sear it directly in a skillet.
