Glazed sugar cookies on a cooling tray
Create A Glass-Like Glaze For Sugar Cookies With Just 2 Ingredients
To create a glass-like glaze that gives your cookies a brilliant, transparent finish, you only need two simple ingredients: corn syrup and high-proof alcohol.
The corn syrup is the secret to achieving this glossy finish. To thin it out and create a glaze with the right consistency, use high-proof alcohol like vodka or even light rum.
Use a 2:1 ratio with two parts light corn syrup and one part alcohol of your choice. In a bowl, mix the clear corn syrup and liquor until they are a pourable consistency.
This glaze works wonderfully over royal icing or fondant-covered cookies. Pour it on the center of your cookies with a piping bag or squeeze bottle and spread it gently and evenly.
