Costco Used To Sell This Kosher Hot Dog Brand In Its Food Court
BY JEN PENG
Hot dogs were first sold in a cart outside Costco’s second warehouse in Portland, and for over a decade, its food courts sold Hebrew National hot dogs made from 100% kosher beef.
The kosher hot dog market began downsizing in 2009, and Hebrew National raised prices. To avoid upping prices for the $1.50 hot dog combo, Costco began making hot dogs in-house.
Costco now sells Kirkland brand hot dogs made at its own meat factories. The new hot dogs are not kosher, but they’re made with 100% beef and are 10% bigger than the original ones.
