Costco Can Actually Ban Members For Attempting One Self-Checkout Ploy
BY Kat Lieu
Violations of Costco's policies can result in a ban. That includes using someone else's membership card at the self-checkout, as the card and its benefits are non-transferable.
At the self-service checkout registers, Costco staff will ask members to show their membership cards, which should always only be used by the actual members themselves.
Per Costco's policy, while members can each bring up to two guests to the warehouse, guests without memberships are actually not allowed to make purchases.
Costco is currently cracking down on card sharing so much that its members on Reddit are lamenting the fact that even spouses can’t use each other's membership cards.
