Charles Bukowski's Favorite Wine Had Deep Intense Flavor
BY BRIAN UDALL
The poet Charles Bukowski was an infamous drinker, and of all the drinks he enjoyed, he liked red wine best, particularly a good Cabernet Sauvignon.
In his poem "two nights before my 72nd birthday," he wrote "sitting here on a boiling hot night while drinking a bottle of cabernet sauvignon after winning $232 at the track."
The big body, bold flavors, and rich tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon all align with the foul-mouthed horse gambler that came to be Bukowski's persona.
