Canned Tuna Makes An Affordable Substitute For Fish Tacos
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
Canned tuna is a delicious and cost-effective substitute for fresh fish when you’re craving fish tacos, and it’s also much easier to use with way less prep work required.
For tacos, tuna in water may be better than oil-packed because it gives you more control of the flavor and seasonings. If sodium is a concern, reduced sodium cans are an option.
To prep the tuna for your tacos, carefully open the can, drain any excess liquid off the tuna, and then heat it. Sautéing the fish until it's warm should work fine.
If you use the microwave, remove the tuna from the can first. After it is cooked, you can top it with whatever you'd like, such as cilantro, salsa, and sour cream.
