Can A Costco Membership Help You Through TSA?
BY Jen Peng
While a Costco membership does not replace a valid government-issued ID, it may help get you through the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) checkpoints at the airport.
The TSA notes that travelers without proper identification may still be allowed to fly by completing an identity verification process, which includes confirming name and address.
In the past, there have been documented examples where a Costco membership card was used in that identity verification process. TSA agents may even ask if you have a Costco card.
However, you may also be asked to provide additional items, like your credit card, or answer questions related to your identity. There may also be a secondary screening process.
