Buckwheat Flour Is The Pantry Ingredient To Boost Chocolate Chip Cookies
BY NIKKI MUNOZ
Chocolate chip cookies are basically flawless, but they can still be experimented with to make them more exciting. To put a tasty twist on your cookies, try adding buckwheat flour.
Buckwheat flour is made of grain-like seeds from the buckwheat plant. It's a gluten-free flour that adds a nutty, bitter, earthy flavor and moist and tender texture to baked goods.
When baked into chocolate chip cookies, buckwheat flour adds much more dimension than plain wheat flour alone. Its warm flavor emphasizes the chocolate, butter, and sugar.
You can replace a quarter of the all-purpose flour in your recipe with buckwheat flour. Buckwheat on its own doesn't produce great results, so always cut it with another flour.
