Bring Out Canned Pumpkin For A Martha Stewart-Worthy Grilled Cheese
BY MICHELLE WELSCH
Home cooking guru Martha Stewart can put a twist on any classic recipe, and this time she’s done it with a canned pumpkin grilled cheese sandwich. It’s easy and quick to make.
Stewart’s recipe involves stirring the pumpkin purée with a touch of Dijon mustard, then seasoning the mixture with a light dusting of salt and pepper.
This spread is applied on top of your bread of choice, topped with grated white cheddar cheese, and crowned with fine shavings of fresh sage leaves.
Once you have your sandwich put together, Stewart recommends covering the outside of the bread with butter before cooking it on a skillet for a few minutes.
If you want to take it a step further, sprinkle on crunchy salt, dried herbs, or a hint of cinnamon. You could also substitute the white cheddar cheese with typical cheddar.
You can try blue, gorgonzola, or goat’s cheese and even add arugula and paprika spice to really create a tasty lunch that is unique, but simple.
