Bourbon Is The Unexpected Ingredient For Amping Up Banana Bread
BY KAT LIEU
Bourbon, with its rich, complex flavors and notes of vanilla, caramel, oak, nuts, and smokiness, is the perfect way to add warmth, spice, and depth to your banana bread.
By using bourbon, you can avoid adding vanilla extract into the batter. The taste of booze won’t even be present because most of the alcohol dissipates in the hot oven.
For a boozy flavor, add a bourbon-infused glaze or frosting to the banana bread after it's baked. You can also control your intake better by making a bourbon-infused butter spread.
Since banana bread takes time to bake, add the bourbon directly to the wet ingredients of the batter. As it bakes, the alcohol content will mostly evaporate.
