Be Careful Of This Costly Crockpot Mistake That Could Render It Useless
BY MAGGIE PEÑA
Slow cookers, like Crock Pot, offer numerous handy features these days, one of which is the locking lid. However, locking lids while the food cooks can actually ruin the cooker.
The locking lids on slow cookers are for transportation only. If the lid is locked during cooking, there will be a lack of air — normally ¼ inch between the pot and the lid.
This can create enough pressure to break the lid or even the entire pot. Even if the lid has a small steam hole, it may not provide enough airflow to prevent breakage.
