Australia's Crash Hot Potatoes Are The Smashed Treat You Should Try
BY EMMY SCHNEIDER-GREEN
Australian cookbook author and food writer Jill Dupleix is to thank for a delicious potato dish called crash hot potatoes. This crispy speciality is quite easy to make.
To prepare crash hot potatoes, you pre-cook potatoes before gently smashing them nearly flat on a baking tray. Next, generously coat them with olive oil and seasonings.
You then roast the potatoes under high heat until they’re golden brown and crispy, yet fluffy on the inside. Try serving them with grated parmesan, sour cream, or Greek yogurt.
You can also sprinkle herbs like rosemary or dill, or spicy cayenne pepper, on top of the potatoes before baking. Enjoy them with meat, sandwiches, or just on their own.
