Anthony Bourdain Couldn't Stand Eating In One Particular NYC Neighborhood

From hole-in-the-wall eateries to Michelin restaurants, Anthony Bourdain knew where to eat, but according to the chef, the NYC neighborhood he called home was a "wasteland for food."
Despite living on the Upper East Side, Bourdain was vocal about the lack of food, saying he "fell to his knees and wept with gratitude" when a Shake Shack opened up in the area.
While the Upper East Side is home to notable restaurants like Daniel and Sushi Noz, Bourdain had a point as the area is more noted for its private schools than pasta joints.
Bourdain likely wasn't after a fancy restaurant, anyway. In a YouTube video, Bourdain advised NYC visitors to try classic deli sandwiches, bagels, and pizza over high-end cuisine.
