Angela Lansbury's Connection To The California Dining Scene
By LISA CURRAN MATTE
Angela Lansbury had a connection to cooking that went far beyond her iconic character's Cabot Cove kitchen. Her only daughter, Deidre Angela Shaw, is a chef who owned and operated a few popular California eateries — including Positano in Santa Monica and Enzo & Angela's in Brentwood — along with her husband, Enzo Battarra.
Lansbury once suggested food writer Shirley Firestone visit Positano, who recalled being captivated by the chef-owner couple and described the restaurant as "a gift waiting to be found." Firestone was equally impressed with Enzo & Angela's, saying the menu was "marvelously appealing," making special mention of the terrace and the second-floor al fresco dining area.
Although Enzo & Angela's closed permanently in 2019, per OpenTable, the archived listing gives the restaurant a 4.3 star rating, calling it a "neighborhood gem." On Yelp, the restaurant is described as having a warm and inviting atmosphere, with the about section explaining that it was focused on delivering "authentic Italian food" with fresh ingredients.
