An Iconic Tennessee Williams Play Inspired One Florida Keys Restaurant
BY Wendy Leigh
If you're a fan of Tennessee Williams, you cannot miss out on the restaurant in Key West, Florida, named for his Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
Hot Tin Roof restaurant is part of the Ocean Key Resort, resting at the tip end of Duval Street, home to Mallory Square and the Sunset Celebration held every evening.
Besides appetizers and Hot Tin Tini cocktails, you can enjoy a subtle Key West Cuisine experience — a mix of grilled seafood, local tropical fruits, and Cuban and Caribbean foods.
For starters, you can expect small plates such as tuna tacos and duck leg confit, while main dishes lean heavily on Florida Keys seafood. Desserts, too, elevate the island culture.
Astute imbibers may notice boozy nods to Williams' plays, like the Baby Doll vodka cocktail. Similarly, the Rose Tattoo cocktail tips a glass to his story set in Mississippi.
