Alton Brown's Favorite Cast Iron Pan Is A Vintage Classic
By MICHELLE WELSCH
Cast iron pans can be finicky but incredibly useful tools, and once you have one in your kitchen's arsenal, it likely isn't going anywhere. However, finding the right cast iron pan to meet your cooking needs can be intimidating, so celebrity chef Alton Brown is weighing in with his favorite brand of cast iron.
Brown says that Lodge, a Tennessee-based brand, is his favorite cast iron brand for reliable and high-quality pans that last for years. The company goes back to 1896 and continues to produce reliable pans today, and states on its website, "We don't just make cookware — we make memories that last for generations."
Brown also stated that his all-time favorite cast iron pan is a 1940s model from Griswold, but he acknowledges that this product is no longer produced today, so Lodge is his modern pick. Many other chefs recommend Lodge as a worthy investment, so it just might be your best bet for cast iron skillet cornbread, steak, and more.
