Alfred Hitchcock's Favorite Steak Dinner Was Hollywood's Chasen's
BY AUTUMN SWIERS
To satisfy his appetite for steak, Alfred Hitchcock went to Chasen's in Hollywood, where his usual order was a $5.50 "double steak" washed down with a champagne punch.
In 1955, $5.50 was the equivalent of about $63 (as of 2024). Hitchcock was such a regular at Chasen's that he had his own booth.
Legend has it that, a few dozen ounces of beef later, Hitchcock was regularly spotted falling asleep at the table — arguably the best dessert after a terrific, filling meal.
