Add Watermelon To Your Paloma For A Delicious Summer Tequila Cocktail
BY JEN PENG
Watermelon is a refreshing snack that cools down pool-goers and backyard grillers on a hot summer day. As it's composed of 92% water, it makes a great addition to drinks.
One delicious option involves adding watermelon to a traditional paloma for a sweeter, yet no less refreshing, take on the fresh and tart cocktail.
The paloma is the national drink of Mexico, traditionally served over ice and made with tequila and grapefruit soda. Some recipes add grapefruit or lime juice and soda water.
To make a watermelon paloma, just add watermelon juice to your favorite recipe. You could also create your own juice by blending watermelon chunks and straining out the pulp.
Kick the cocktail up a notch by customizing the ingredients to suit your taste. For example, a sweeter version could use orange juice instead of grapefruit juice.
You could even coat the rim of the glass with cayenne pepper or Tajin for an extra kick, adding another flavor dimension to this simple but effective summer refresher.
