Add Spices To A Glass Of Coke For An Elevated Sipping Experience
BY ANNIE JOHNSTON
Taking Coke to the next level is as easy as shaking in a few additional spices. This will provide not only a more natural flavor but an enhanced one as well.
In fact, the original Coke formula used herbs and spices like nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon, and neroli oil. While they used liquid varieties, ground spices will work just the same.
Sweet additions include vanilla, allspice, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and cloves for a bright, warm flavor, while earthy options might include black pepper and coriander.
In India, Coke is mixed with cumin, black salt, lime juice, fresh cilantro, and mint, while in Hong Kong, they boil Coke with ginger and lemon as a cold remedy.
Regardless of your chosen spices, incorporating additional flavors to Coke can add layers of flavor from earthy warmth to savory, citrussy, tart, grassy, or herbal notes.
