A Former McDonald's Chef Explains How To Make The Breakfast Sauce
BY Marina S.
McDonald's creamy breakfast sauce is a hollandaise-like dressing typically served with the chain's bagel breakfast sandwich offerings, but it’s difficult to find everywhere.
Per a TikTok shared by former McDonald's corporate chef Mike Haracz, the dressing features a mayo base with lemon juice, herbs like dill, and some spices — likely salt and pepper.
The other ingredients Haracz says you need — i.e. cheddar cheese powder, buttermilk powder, liquid smoke, and autolyzed yeast extract — make this recipe difficult to replicate.
You can use alternatives for a copycat sauce. Start with 1/2 cup of mayo and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, then add in 1 tablespoon of steak sauce or 1/4 teaspoon of liquid smoke.
Lastly, add 1/4 teaspoon of dried dill or some fresh dill alongside a little salt and pepper. The original sauce contains other additives, but they aren't necessary.
