A Family Recipe Created Edgar Allan Poe's Favorite Cocktail

Edgar Allan Poe's drinking was almost as infamous as his macabre writing. His favorite cocktail, eggnog, is a centuries-old recipe from his family cookbook.
The Poe family recipe uses brandy and rum along with the yolks of seven eggs, sugar, milk, whipping cream, and nutmeg, which combine to create a thick, custardy texture.
Save the egg whites and whip them up into a frothy element that can be used to top off the eggnog, along with a sprinkle of nutmeg.
