A Cast Iron Skillet Is The Key To Perfectly Flavored Asparagus Every Time
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
A cast iron skillet is the perfect way to bring out the flavor of asparagus and enhance its texture with little effort. The surface is quick to give the spears an impressive char.
In just a few minutes, the veggies will obtain a nice crunch and smoky flavor without getting mushy. You won't have to use much oil or butter, making it a healthier option.
This allows the earthy and sweet flavors of the asparagus to stand out. A well-seasoned cast iron pan also provides additional flavor that boiling and roasting can't achieve.
Let the cast iron pan heat properly to obtain the best taste and texture on the asparagus. Heat the pan over high heat with 1 tablespoon of neutral oil.
Use a regular cast iron pan or a cast iron grill pan to get grill marks and a char on the veggies. Avoid overcrowding the pan, or else they won't cook evenly.
