19 Trader Joe's Hacks You Should Try At Least Once
BY SARAH O'PHELAN
Swapping Sauces
Trader Joe’s is known for its popular frozen entrees like Mandarin Orange Chicken and Shrimp Boom Bah, which you can elevate by swapping the sauces.
The Shrimp Boom Bah sauce is rich, sweet, and spicy, and while it pairs perfectly with the shrimp it comes with, it’s also a quick way to elevate orange chicken.
Beef Birria Ramen
If you’re a fan of fusion foods, you have to make a fusion ramen with Trader Joe’s frozen Beef Birria, which comes in a rich, spicy broth.
Microwave the birria and combine it with a cooked pack of ramen noodles. Add extra broth, fresh cilantro, onions, and lime for a mind-blowing combo dish.
Make Dumpling Soup
Trader Joe's official podcast, "Inside Trader Joe's," reveals a plethora of handy tips, such as using Trader Joe's Organic Biscuits for dumpling soup.
Quarter the biscuits and then add them to a hearty, homemade chicken and dumpling soup made by sweating diced veggies, aromatics, and herbs with broth and chicken.
Souped Up Soup
If you’re a fan of Trader Joe’s Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Soup, try adding the store’s frozen chimichurri rice for a heartier, even more flavorful meal.
The Peruvian-Style Chimichurri Rice with Vegetables adds an herbaceous, aromatic flavor to complement the soups' tangy, smokey notes. Plus, it makes the meal even more filling.
Elevated Margaritas
Trader Joe's has plenty of specialty beverages that make for delicious cocktails, and one of the best hacks is to use the store's jalapeño limeade in margaritas.
Unfortunately, the drink is only seasonal, so make sure to grab it when you see it. Then, combine it with tequila or mezcal and garnish with fresh herbs or berries.
